Crew of the Weeks

No-nonsense duo Shana Cotter & Luke Gray take home COTW this issue with a review that's all killer, no filler.
"This was the second time that I have used Man With A Van for a move. Once again it was an excellent experience. The move itself was great. Movers were very professional and took fantastic care of everything. The movers were experienced, professional, sensible, and friendly. The process was incredibly smooth and easy. I much prefer to use Man With A Van as both moves I have had, have been done with care and not rushed. Thanks heaps!"
Nice work you two, come catch Jack Tandy around the depot to collect your well-earned reward.
Say it in Hi-Vis!

You may have noticed that the trucks now have even more hi-vis vests. Not only are they in the white tubs, but they are also hanging in the cab behind the seats - for ease of access when the offsider hops out to assist with reversing and other tight low speed manoeuvres.
Please use them during times of low visibility or when working around traffic.
Be seen. Be safe.
¡Holy Guacamole! Taco bids adios

Lover of the lift and tinkler of the ivories, Aidan Jones, has left the depot.
As this scribe understands, Taco is the only person to have taken Tim Bishop up on his offer to pay for anyone to get a MWAV tattoo emblazoned on his person.
As many of you know, Aidan delivers punchlines even better than he does couches so he is relocating to London, England - via the Edinburgh Fringe Festival - to ply his trade and make his millions.
Thanks for being such a joy to have had around all these years. We wish you all the best.
Enterprise Bargaining Agreement

What's happening with pay and conditions? Negotiations are currently underway for the next instalment of the Enterprise Bargaining Agreement here at MWAV.
"Is this just for management & union members?" this scribe hears you ask! Nope. This affects all staff so it's important that all voices are represented and heard.
Have your say or just listen and learn @ the next scheduled EBA meeting in the Abbotsford depot: Tuesday, 22nd July - 5:30pm - 6:30pm.
Come in person or join remotely by clicking here.
Full House - No Truck Needed

Fold your blankets, not your hand because Poker Night is on!
The Man is hosting another Poker Night in the Abbotsford depot on Tuesday, 22 July.
$20 cash - winner takes all. Pizza, beer, & snacks provided by the Man. RSVP >> right here <<
Equality For All

"Today, the majority of Australia employees continue to work in industries dominated by one gender. In Victoria, just 13% of construction workers are women. But in healthcare, women make up 79% of the workforce.
That imbalance isn't about personal preferences. It's systemic and it's shaped by outdated gender expectations. We want to change that so workplaces are safer and more inclusive, for all workers.
That's where you come in!
Are you a woman or gender diverse worker in a male dominated industry?
Ever faced issues around respect, safety, career progression and equality?
Worked in a supportive and inclusive team within a male dominated industry?
What's the biggest thing that needs to change to make your industry safer, accessible and more equal for all workers?
We want to hear from you!"

The Vibe

Another killer fortnight on the vibe front with some stunner surveys coming through. Melbourne is very much picking up what you're putting down, incredible work team!
Tommy's Tales

Hot off the damage presses this leadlight cabinet suffered an unfortunate run-in with a nearby knee, luckily a minor bingle for both the knee and cabinet with the leadlighting staying mostly intact.
This type of panel can be super difficult to repair due to it's delicate nature, if the leadlighting is damaged too badly the entire thing will need to be re-built from scratch, a complex - and expensive - endeavour. Thankfully a more straightforward fix this panel is currently on the hoist at the repairers, soon to be good-as-new.
The movers submitted a borderline perfect damage report with plenty of helpful info along with the coveted holy trinity of damage photos, one from up close, one from slightly further away, one of the item as a whole.
Remember to take extra care out there around leadlight panels, be sure to use extra blankets if necessary and avoid packing looser items nearby.
Suggestion Box

Suggestion: "Can we please go easy on the Coke™? I know Coca-Cola is the lifeblood of the sugar but can we please take a moment to consider what Passiona, Solo, and dare I say it, Ginger Beer bring to the table? Homogeny is the death of curiosity and my taste buds are demanding I broaden my palate."
Response: The beverage manager has been informed of your desire - assuming this is harboured by others - and a rotation is due.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Suggestion: "I keep hitting myself in the family jewels on the job, any chance of some MWAV branded codpieces? I can't take much more of this!"
Response: Whilst codpieces aren't currently on the PPE radar, this scribe recommends carrying items as close as possible to your centre of gravity to both maximise stability and provide protection from wayward attacks.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Suggestion: "Could we add hours worked to roster page? Under the section with start times? Currently just says lifting at 7:30 etc etc but would be great if it gave completed hours. Ie 7:40 to 2:57 or whatever it might be"
Response: Great suggestion! A change like this won't be implemented in the current roster page but an easy to calculate feature like this is being deeply mulled over for the upcoming new system.
