Crew of the Weeks
This edition's pick for COTW not only left their customer chuffed with the professional service, but also left them to carry the lighter items! Now, that's something you don't see every day with a 5-star survey but it's all about how you frame it.
“The crew was absolutely amazing! Super efficient, professional, and incredibly helpful. They handled all the heaviest items with ease, leaving us only the lighter stuff to carry. They worked quickly but with great care, and honestly, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I’m a student with limited funds, so I couldn’t give them a tip but they truly deserved it. Flu Shots
WARNING! The sneezy season is once again fast approaching. If you'd like to avoid spending several days curled up in a ball, dreading the cold sweat that comes with the fever dreams, The Man recommends getting a flu shot at your local Chemist Warehouse. Simply provide your receipt to a manager and The Man will reimburse you for the cost of your shot.
IDAHOBIT
“On the 17th of May, 1990, the World Health Organisation removed homosexuality from their Classification of Diseases. The anniversary of this is referred to as IDAHOBIT - the International Day Against International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism, and Transphobia. We use this date as a way to commemorate this important milestone, but also use it to reflect in the progress that has been made in the years since then.
While achievements have been made in improving our lives as LGBTQIA+ people in many ways, we have also experienced many set backs and uphill battles when trying to drive positive change. We still face discrimination daily, in our home, work and social lives - as well as from our governments and healthcare systems.
IDAHOBIT is an opportunity to step up as allies - to understand and educate yourselves, and the people around you, on how you can best support and protect your LGBTQIA+ friends, families and coworkers.

New Enterprise Bargaining Agreement
And we're off! Last Tuesday evening saw the interested parties - mostly members of the Transport Workers Union - gather round the table with management to outline their log of claims for the new Enterprise Agreement which will run for three years until 30 June, 2028.
The next meeting will take place at 5:30pm - 6:30pm, Tuesday, 27 May in The Meeting Room in Abbotsford. All staff - both TWU Members & Non-TWU Members - are encouraged to attend.

How Long Is A Loading Zone?
Parking in a loading zone with no time limit specified on the sign? What’s the max amount of time you can legally park for? Is it: A) 15 min B) 30 min C) As long as you want D) As long as it takes to complete your loading or unloading plus the time it takes to drip a meat pie on the dash and tip your strawberry Big M on the seat E) Who cares? It's not like the fine is more than a couple of bucks anyway, right?
Answer: B) 30 minutes. If you get this wrong IRL you run the risk of copping a $198 fine.
Queue The Bass
Tim Bishop starts putting tracking chips in the forks to find out where they're going and sees that they're all in James Bowden's car. Angus creates an AI assistant to replace the office workers, which immediately unionises. Jack Tandy begins to suspect that Matt Windsor is tampering with the fußball table. Rob Greenway and Henry Osborne both get locked in the toilets and are 3 hours late to Makin Mattresses. Jake Joyce thinks he's made up a genius alternative for moving houses before realising he has invented the hotel again.
Tommy's Tales
A tragic tale of shattered glass and shattered dreams this issue, luckily with a happy ending on the horizon as the repaired item heads back to it's rightful owner tomorrow morning.
This rather large and awkward cabinet door was broken during the unload as it swung open, impacting another item in the truck and shattering the thick glass. The team submitted a solid damage report with good pics before chatting options with the customer. Understandably not super keen on a discount, they opted for a repair so it was off to the glazier to replace the damaged glass. A few weeks later and it's looking good as new, ready for delivery back to a less broken hearted individual.
Remember to fit an elastic strap around items with doors that may swing open, especially on units like this with fragile glass parts. Assess anything that's loose or can move around before handling and be sure to use plenty of straps and blankets when necessary.
Survey Stats
A weird spread on the survey front this fortnight with a handful of odd complaints. No particular issue came through as a key feedback point with most customers generally stoked with your quality work and moving prowess. Great work team! Here's hoping for some less scattered feedback in the weeks ahead.

Protest March
This rally will be to commemorate 77 years of The Nakba (The Catastrophe) against the Palestinian people. The rally will be a lot bigger than the usual Sunday rallies with a 6km walk from the (Yarra) river to the sea (St. Kilda Beach) with an alternative route ending at Camp Sovereignty. There will be a large union presence, so TWU members are especially encouraged to show up and show out to demand peace and the end Australia’s complicity in the genocide.
