Crew of the Weeks

This issue's COTW ticked just about every box there is when it comes to a quality move. Speed, style, safety and super service left their customer stunned and hugely satisfied.
Dan and Tom were sensational. Not only were they ridiculously efficient furniture removal machines, we had a great time getting it done, having great conversation along the way. I was pleasantly surprise by the guys telling me that they had brought a larger truck than I have been quoted for. As a result, we moved about twice as much stuff as I had expected to. The guys were super fast, nothing was too much trouble, we worked out some troubles between the three of us, and it was actually quite a fun time. Thanks to Dan and Tom are now have less stuff to move and more time to clean, so I can't thank them enough for their efforts. Absolute professionals these two, I hope they get the recognition that they so very much deserve. Cheers guys, I hope I don't need to move again anytime soon but next time I do it will definitely be with man with a van for the third time in a row."
Nice one team, come chat with Jack Tandy to collect your reward.
Capacity Crisis

Amongst the various customer feedback we receive, one common complaint has reared it's head again and again over the past few months. Namely, customers are understandably upset when we're unable to take all the items they were hoping we would. Usually, this is due to an inaccurate item list and/or items being larger than we expected them to be.
As soon as you notice everything won't fit, you must speak with your customer and/or the office to work out a solution. Please try to flag this issue as early as possible, you can show your customer the item list and/or the physical size of the truck to help explain why everything won't fit. Leaving this chat for when the truck is already full almost always results in confusion and frustration for the customer and less time for the office to sort out a solution.

Parking Fine Peril

A reminder that you are responsible for any and all potential vehicle infringements whilst driving/parking. If you are not willing to accept a potential fine, do not park illegally.
In the event that you must park illegally to perform a move in a timely manner, you need to speak with your customer about accepting liability for any potential fines received. You MUST use the words "infringement" or "parking fine", something like "Is it cool if we park illegally?" does not mean the same thing as "We've parked illegally, are you willing to accept any potential fines we might receive?"
Once you've had this discussion, you MUST make a note on the mobile site, this gives us a time stamped note that this discussion took place. Failure to note this conversation down may result in you having to cop the fine when the customer conveniently "forgets" having that discussion.

These A3 posters have been ordered and will be stuck up on the back door of every truck to be visible to customers and passersby as a reminder that MWAV staff (you) are human beings that deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. You should see them popping up in the next few weeks.

Our values
All huMan With A Van members of staff should aspire to act in accordance with this list to make your life and your colleague's lives much easier.

How to stay safe when guiding a truck in a narrow space

Every now and then our big wide trucks are required to get down tight spaces. Sometimes, it is straightforward, other times, getting down safely requires some problem solving and out-of-the-box thinking. Next time you are expected to guide a truck in a situation like this, consider the following safety tips:
- Be seen. Wear Hi-Viz vests on roadways and in poorly lit areas. This increases visibility and makes a collision less likely. The Man is trialling keeping them hung from seat headrests in the trucks.
- Be heard. Keep your windows down and yell loudly so everyone knows the situation... especially when it changes suddenly.
- Know your path. Don’t walk backwards blindly whilst guiding the truck. Look before you leap & know what's around you so you don't trip over or walk into hazards which you didn't know were there. Stop the truck and reassess as much as needed.
- Know your limits. Sometimes it is better to be positioned in front of a truck rather than behind when guiding or reversing into a tight laneway. Make sure you're always visible and never in the crush zone.
Love the glove

Can your hands get sore from carrying big heavy stuff or even the odd sharp thing with a pokey base?
The Man will be trialling one-size-fits-all gloves in the tubs. Feedback on these will be very much appreciated. You should also consider carrying your own set of gloves for moments when you might hurt or dirty your hands moving stuff.
Inside the Iron Palace

The depot gym has seen an uptick in use recently which is excellent to see. Please keep using it because that is what it's there for.
Once you have finished your session, remember to keep the gym area tidy by unracking your weights from the bar, storing the kettle bells and dumb bells in their spaces, and wipe down any sweat using the towels provided.

An incredible result on the damage front, almost reaching the coveted single digit damage stats. Fantastic work everyone!
The Vibe

A bit of a bummer turnout on the vibe with a handful of less-than-satisfied customers. Capacity and communication were key issues amongst the reviews, remember to keep a clear line of communication with your customer when it comes to extra time/charges.
