crew of the weeks

Jack Johnson
Rom Markwick

A couple of relatively fresh faces take home the coveted award this issue leaving their customer so stoked, they just had to bust out the Tetris gag.

"Movers were very accommodating. I showed them some things I would like to have moved if space permits and were happy to add things in, working well together and individually. Very good teamwork and Tetris skills in the truck! I was less prepared for this move than I have been with others but this has been the best experience I have had. I would like to give a massive shout out to Jack and Rom, the movers who helped me with my job. They were lovely dudes and super helpful. Will recommend to friends, family and will definitely be booking with man with a van for my future moves. Thank you so much!"

Awesome stuff you two, catch Jack Tandy around the depot to collect your well earned reward.

Old wheels

Jack "Windmill" Holland

Windmill - named in honour of multiple Gold Liftie nominee, Jack Holland - has made its final journey to Eureka Tower and is set to be retired after five years of dedicated service.

Windmill consistently encountered transmission issues, stalled at the traffic lights and ran into your fair share of tree branches, roof gutters, and roller doors. You've been a true loyal servant so we hope you enjoy your reserved bay in the big car park up in the sky - Vanhalla.

New Wheels

Alex "King" Wong

As we say goodbye to Windmill, we say hello to the newest member of the Large fleet, King. Named after longtime champion of the double breakfast banh mi and recent 2K milestone man, Alex Wong. Wong means King in cantonese so the Man couldn't think of a name more apt. There is no balcony lift too high, no story too tall, nor no buffet too big, for the King that is Alex Wong.

Long live the King!

More New Wheels

Anthony "Barnacle" Perry

But wait... there's more! The Man has also purchased a brand new ute to assist with all the running around and depot to depot work. "Barnacle" is the name set to be rusted onto the side of the ISUZU D-Max and will remain there for years and years.

The recipient of the second most recent Gold Liftie, Anthony Perry has made his loyal and helpful presence known since he first latched onto the depot pre-pandemic and just like a barnacle, he will not leave until he is pried off with the strongest tools available. Congrats, mate!

Hear something crook?

Keep workplace chat appropriate for the workplace

The following suggestion was submitted anonymously so the Diversity & Inclusion Committee has decided to address it here in a standalone segment.

"What’s the best thing to do if somebody says something cooked to you in the truck?" I don’t always feel comfortable calling out a fellow mover but I don’t feel okay doing nothing either.

What Should I do?

We've all been in that situation and it can be really uncomfortable.

1. Please call it out. Ask the person why they have said _____ and ask if they feel that's appropriate for the workplace. If you don't feel you can call it out at that moment then here are some suggestions from the D & I committee:

2. Speak with a Diversity & Inclusion or OHS committee representative, management, or a union delegate.

3. Report it anonymously so that we can better educate about the issue without having to name names. Go to: https://tny.mwav.org/cooked

Tax Time

Taxes! Taxes! Get your taxes!

About this time of year people start asking about ATO tax income statements (aka Group Certificate if you’re old) so they can do their tax return. These will be available on your myGov account within about 2 weeks of EOFY - i.e. mid July.‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌

the damage

Thursday, June 13th - Wednesday, June 26th

Damage Reports Submitted - 13

Claims Without Damage Reports - 0

An absolutely stellar result on the damage front this fortnight with low damage numbers and no surprise damages in sight. Lovely stuff everyone, keep up the great work!

the vibe

Thursday, June 13th - Wednesday, June 26th

An unusual spread brings a somewhat bummer vibe this issue with a small handful of stinky surveys. An overall positive result as always though hopefully things pick up a little next issue.

Have you got a great suggestion to make this a better place to work?

Suggestion: Why are the toilets so dark? And how does the urinal know when you're done?

Response: Great suggestions! The toilets are dark because there are no windows. As for the urinals, AI knows too much already.

Suggestion: Where have all of the mugs gone???

Response: This scribe is unsure if you are genuinely concerned or are laughing maniacally atop your tower of MWAV mugs. Regardless, if anyone has a mug in their possession or in a truck, please return it to the kitchen where it belongs so it can be refilled with piping hot Moccona™ & Milo™.‌
