This was our first big move so we were a bit nervous, but we’re so glad we went with Man With A Van. The website was user friendly, and we got a confirmation call soon after to run through the details. On moving day, they called before arriving with their ETA, and also showed up a few minutes before our schedule, which we really appreciated.

Nat and Reinier were both genuinely so nice, worked really efficiently, and handled all our items with care. The whole move between apartments went smoothly, and they were mindful of the time so we stayed within the estimated quote. They also set up our washing machine and reassembled our bed frames, which made settling in so much easier.

Dunk Report

One step forward.

One step back.

There were some mixed results over the last fortnight for MWAV's favourite dunk daddies, Shifters (7th). They proved they have built a better and quicker system than Brick By Brick (9th) by trouncing them by 14 points but were agonisingly reeled in at the last minute by Fish Team (3rd) who netted the win by 4.

Whilst it was a frustrating loss, Shifters have shown they can easily compete with the top end of the table and should convert these into wins if and when the ball gets passed around on offence for better percentage shots.

Special shoutout goes to the flame-thrower himself, Ravi Vallance, who is currently on fire, hitting 9 of his last 10 three point attempts across the last two games.

During the week, we have had a report of a non-customer, non-MWAV employee rifling through the white tub in back of the truck and taking off with our EFTPOS terminal.

SAY NO TO CRIME by keeping your EFTPOS terminal and all other small valuables - phones, wallets, lunches etc. - locked in the cab.

We are currently swimming in expensive fridge door damage, especially french-door units. These gentle silver giants are very easily scratched and dented leading to a costly and time consuming process for everyone involved.

Wrap & Pack

Remember to wrap and pack these costly fridges as safely as possible as well as flag any pre-existing damage with the customer as soon as you notice it. No mark is too small, please remember to point it out if it’s there before you move it.

Hiring Hiatus

MWAV is currently operating at full staff capacity.

The Man thanks you for referring your friends as trusted lifting partners but we currently have all we can fit.

They are still welcome to apply via the website but the hiring manager - Jack Tandy - won't be conducting interviews or inductions in the short term until The Man experiences either an uptick in bookings, a drop in staffing levels, or both.

Jack will now be focussing his time on minimising damage to walls and fridge doors.

We have had a sharp rise in complaints from customers not being called when we’re running late to their job.

Call every customer you have with an ETA before their job is meant to start.

Moving house is a very stressful time - even if it's a happy move - for a lot of people, so calling them goes a really long way to putting their minds at ease and greatly increases your chance of a tip.

Stretch Club

Cranbourne Wednesdays / Abbotsford Fridays

Morning Stretch Club is coming back to a depot near you to open your joints, strengthen your core and get rid of the niggles that keep you from being your best. We will be running 4x 15 minute dynamic stretch & warm-up workshops between 6:30am - 7:30am on Wednesdays in CRANBOURNE w/ Memphis and on Fridays in ABBOTSFORD w/ Oscar.

Back pain is the ever arching nemesis of the Lifestyle Relocation Specialist™. Exercise helps to ease back pain & prevent further discomfort. The exercises below stretch and strengthen the back and the muscles that support it. When you first start, repeat each exercise a few times. Then increase the number of times you do an exercise as it gets easier for you.

Lower Back Rotational Stretch

Lie on your back with your knees bent and your feet flat on the floor (A). Keep your shoulders firmly on the floor, and slowly roll your bent knees to one side (B). Hold for 5 to 10 seconds. Slowly go back to the starting position (C). Repeat on the other side (D). Repeat each stretch 2 to 3 times. Do the full routine before you head out on the road and when you return to the depot at the end of your day.

Lower Back Flexibility Exercise

Lie on your back with your knees bent and your feet flat on the floor (A). Tighten the muscles in your belly so that your lower back pulls up, away from the floor (B). Hold for five seconds and then relax. Flatten your back, pulling your bellybutton toward the floor (C). Hold for five seconds and then relax. Repeat. Start with 5 reps per day. Slowly work your way up to 30.

Bridge Exercise

Lie on your back with your knees bent and your feet flat on the floor (A). Keep your shoulders and head relaxed on the floor and tighten the muscles in your belly and buttocks. Then raise your hips to form a straight line from your knees to your shoulders (B). Try to stay that way long enough to take three deep breaths. Go back to where you started and repeat. Start with 5 reps per day. Slowly work your way up to 30.

Tommy's Tales

This issue's damage tale comes from one of movings most punishing of challenges, the dreaded double-door fridge up an angled staircase. Awkward and with little room for error, this maneuver frequently leads to either flooring or wall damage occurring.

With a ripper damage report submitted we've since spoken with a flooring contractor and gotten the work underway. When you come face-to-face with a cooked stairwell, remember to use as many straps, elastic bands and blankets as necessary to cover and protect both the stairwell and the item itself.

A pair of less-than-stellar reviews unfortunately bring down an otherwise overall positive vibe this fortnight. Key feedback involves damage and how we could have avoided it, remember to make sure you use plenty of blankets on more fragile items to avoid scrapes, chips and dings.
